I always like to push myself as an artist, both compositionally and aesthetically. I have been working consistently in my sketchbook, which is something new for me as I usually just go straight to the canvas. I will admit sometimes I still make the larger piece first and then work in the sketchbook after. l try to be as organic as possible in my process in order to fuel my creativity. I have started a new series on cold press fabriano watercolor paper using washes of acrylic paint. I quite enjoy working on paper, it's a nice shift from canvas and wood panel. I will see where it takes me, I am trying not to put too much pressure on myself artistically and just let the process guide me.
Working in the studio early in the morning is the favorite part of my day. I love being able to approach the canvas with a fresh perspective. An influx of creativity flows intuitively as I layer washes of colour to create a composition. I work simultaneously in both my sketchbook and on the canvas, each informing one another. I continually strive to evolve as an artist, experimenting with different combinations of materials, aesthetic formations and compositional elements.
